Karate was originated in India or in China, this was twelve centuries approximately. The measure where the art was being developed, studied, cultivated and transmitted through the generations, changes and contributions had been added for the formation of diverse styles of karate in evidence currently.
It had millennium already existed forms of fights without weapons, and at the time of the samurais in Japan, it did not exist the sport concept.

The Funakoshi master intended with its method that aimed at the physical education as form of self-defense, allied to the philosophy of the samurais, but with scientific base, to help the students in its formation as useful men and citizens the society, everything this, without losing the true martial spirit of the fight. Karate was considered "divine art" for its great efficiency in the real combat.
One of the facts most important for the development of karate, was the sprouting of the "karate-competition" as sport. In years 30 and 40, karate started if to spread for the world.
Those few individuals, that had really reached one high condition in the art of karate, show capacities that seem to be next to the limits of the human potential. The practitioner of karate, a person highly trained in the physicist-mental aspects, when she collates yourself with the aggressor, presents a behavior differentiated and of the tests of completely uncommon feelings to somebody so threatened.
A rupture of intellectual thought and emotions exists as anger, fear and pride. In place of this, it does not feel itself as separate individual of the things that surround it, as an individual in its environment. even though its opponent is looked at as a proper extension of itself.

PHILOSOPHICAL INTRODUCTION TO THE KARATE-DO

The word "karate" is derived from a used expression na philosophy zen, that it can be considered as integrant part da eastern philosophy. "the sora" word that it is also pronounced as "kara" or "kuu", represents the universe. In the thought zen, the word contains the act or process of release of the person or its ego, obtaining a mind state that is not affected by nothing, that is, been of inexistence.
This "state", means the effort to exempt the person of any type of desire and to develop a respectable character. Therefore the true intention of karate is to train of such form that the practitioner can live in pleasant, healthful, honored and worthy way, without creating problems, without fearing to the powerful fort or, without if humiliating before the influential man, and without if becoming blind person for the wealth of the land (indifference).
This balance exists through the In and You, that in set, forms the universe, in a combination of the positive and negative. This is the true spirit of karate.
